Let's say the even takes place on Friday, from 12:15 to 13:30. Chairmen will send two days before the event a subject paper, new name of the Study Guide. It contains necessary historical context and general information on the debate topic.
Comes Friday ! There are 3 phases. In the first one, delegates will first expose a mandatory opening speech, exposing the problem or crisis, and their delegation's position.
During the second phase, delegates must propose motions and argument, no matter what. Unlike HMUN (and other ones !), there are only two type of motions : formal and informal. In the former, delegates have a right to answer and are selected by the Chairmen to answer, while in the latter, they can freely wander, and communicate together.
The solution phase is when delegates start working on a Resolution Paper through an imposed informal or formal debate. It has up to 3 sponsors, and multiple can be done, depending on the number of blocs in the committee. Five minutes before the end of the session, delegates will vote for a winning Resolution Paper, whose members will be the "winners" of the debate.
While HMUN (Harvard MUN) usually takes up to 5 whole days with a couple hundred participants, 3mun emphasises on speed. It can be prepared for in a single day, and only takes 75 minutes.
