Let's say the even takes place on Friday, from 12:15 to 13:30. Chairmen will send a subject paper about two days before the event. It contains necessary historical context and general information on the debate topic.
Comes Friday ! There are 3 phases. In the first one, delegates will hold a mandatory opening speech that explains the problem or crisis, and their delegation's position.
During the second phase, delegates must propose motions and arguments, no matter what. Unlike HMUN (and other ones !), there are only two type of motions : formal and informal. In the former, delegates have the right to answer each other and are selected by the Chairmen, while in the latter, they can freely wander, and communicate together.
The solution phase is when delegates start working on a Resolution Paper through an imposed informal or formal debate. It has up to 3 sponsors, and multiple can be done, depending on the number of blocs in the committee. Five minutes before the end of the session, delegates will vote for a winning Resolution Paper, whose members will be the "winners" of the debate.
While HMUN (Harvard MUN) usually takes up to 5 whole days with a couple hundred participants, 3mun emphasises on speed. It can be prepared for in a single day, and only takes 75 minutes.
